Welcome
to shelbycountyskatepark.com! This site changes frequently so visit
often for the latest news and pictures. We are the SkatePark
Advocates, a group
of middle and high school students who volunteered to spend our winter
break
researching skateparks. We checked out possible locations in Shelbyville,
met with
vendors, visited other community parks, and studied ways to fund the
park.
Skating
is the fastest growing sport for youth in America. Four out of every
ten teen
males skate. You will now find kids skating in parking lots, on the
court house steps,
off loading docks, and anywhere else we can find which gives us a good
ride or a
good jump!
Shelbyville
needs some place safe to send us to skate. Our park will be at the Old
City Pool on Washington Street. The city owns this property. They have
agreed that
we can use it for a park, and the Parks Department is going to manage
the park for
us like they do Daniels Field in the same location.
This
park will not be possible without your help. So please give your donation
today,
whether it be your time, your resources or your pledge.
The
skateboarders of Shelby County thank you!
