Shelby County Skate Park

We just received a Land and Water Conservation grant of $35,000. We
have also been given $10,000 from both the Moses Ruben Fund and The
Tony Hawk Foundation. An anonymous donor has agreed to give the
skateboarders $10,000 and Wal-Mart and chiropractor Eric Ribenboim
have made substantial contributions.

Major pledges to date include: (abc order). Alcan, Broughton
Construction, Citizen's Union Bank, Moses Ruben Fund, The Parks Board,
Process Machinery, Shelbyville Chiropractic, Turner Insurance, US Bank,
and Walmart. In addition several individuals have made personal pledges.
This summer the SkatePark Advocates raised over $1200 themselves by
volunteering for a triathlon, selling drinks at the Park's 4th of July
celebration, and holding the skatepark competition.

So, we are within $14,000 of our goal!!!

Why should you contribute?

  • A skatepark is good for the community.
  • We will have a safe place to skate!
  • We won't be skating in town.
  • The park will turn an eyesore into a good recreation spot.
  • Families with kids will want to move here.

Your contribution is deductible. The Parks is a 501(c)(3) organization.

A plaque at the SkatePark will recognize all donors. For special recognition you
can sponsor a piece of equipment for the park. These include:

  • Half Pipe $30,000
  • Fun Box $10,000
  • Pyramid Wedge $ 5,000
  • Ramp $ 3,000
  • Grind Box $ 2,500
  • Grind Rail $ 2,500
  • Stair Set $ 2,500

Please make your pledge today. Your actual contribution will not be collected
until we have raised all the money to build the park.

Download Pledge Form and fax to 633-7924. Thank you.You may contact Dee Maynard, our volunteer coordinator, at 387-8551 or Clay Cottongim, the Parks Director at 633-5059.
